The Shagbark Black Bean Tortilla Chips are made with freshly ground Ohio-grown corn, transformed into 100% masa using the traditional “Nixtamal” method for enhanced nutrition.

Description

Shagbark’s Original Tortilla Chips are known across the region for their unmistakably rich corn flavor, along with the hardiness that allows them to stand up to the thickest dips, guacamole, or salsa, or the most savory soups.

Shagbark chips are made with organic dent corn grown by Chris Clinehens and daughter Ginger at Clinehens Organic Farm in Shelby County, Ohio. Made in small batches every two weeks, the corn in the Original chips are made the traditional way, by first soaking the corn overnight in a solution of water and rock-lime. This solution is the ancient method called, “Nixtamal”, which turns the corn into a delicious superfood by beginning the digestion process and unlocking corn’s niacin and other nutrients, making them more bioavailable.
