SECTION 3 – DISCLOSURE

We may disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so or if you violate our Terms of Service.

SECTION 4 – WORDPRESS / WOOCOMMERCE

Our store is hosted with HostGator using the WordPress and WooCommerce frameworks. WordPress and WooCommerce provide us with the online eCommerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you. Your data is stored on a secure server behind a firewall.

For more information, review the privacy policies of these platforms:

Payment:

If you choose a direct payment gateway to complete your purchase, it is encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is deleted.

All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.
PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.

To date, we have not received any reports about fraudulent charges resulting from our website.

SECTION 5 – THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.

However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.

For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled by these providers.

In particular, remember that certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located a different jurisdiction than either you or us. So if you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.

As an example, if you are located in Canada and your transaction is processed by a payment gateway located in the United States, then your personal information used in completing that transaction may be subject to disclosure under United States legislation, including the Patriot Act.

Once you leave our store’s website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our website’s Terms of Service.

SECTION 6 – SECURITY

To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

If you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and stored with a AES-256 encryption. Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.

SECTION 7 – COOKIES

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.

We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyze data about web page traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website, by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us. You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.

SECTION 8 – AGE OF CONSENT

By using this site, you represent that you are at least the age of majority in your state or province of residence, or that you are the age of majority in your state or province of residence and you have given us your consent to allow any of your minor dependents to use this site.

SECTION 9 – CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.
If our store is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred to the new owners so that we may continue to sell products to you. Please direct all inquiries to: support@laurasmercantile.com

SECTION 10 – USE OF AI TECHNOLOGIES
10.1 What this covers.
We may employ artificial intelligence (“AI”) technologies, including but not limited to AI-powered chatbots, generative content tools, recommendation engines, automated decision-support systems, or other machine-learning-based services (collectively, “AI Systems”) in connection with our website, services, communications, marketing, and customer-support functions.

10.2 Purpose and function.
These AI Systems may be used to:

provide automated responses to customer inquiries;
generate or assist in generating content (for example, product descriptions, blog posts, or marketing materials);
tailor personalization of offers, suggestions or recommendations based on usage patterns;
assist our team in analyzing data, improving our services, or streamlining support processes.
10.3 Data collection and processing.
When you interact with an AI System, we may process certain information—such as your input (e.g., chat messages, questions, or search queries), metadata (such as time, device type, or browser), and relevant context (such as past interactions or purchase history). All such processing is subject to the other terms in this Privacy Policy (including how we collect, use, disclose, secure or retain your information) as described in Sections 1-9.

10.4 Limitations and disclaimers.
Because AI Systems operate based on algorithms, data sets and automated reasoning, they have inherent limitations. Accordingly:

The information provided or generated by an AI System may not always be accurate, complete, up-to-date, or appropriate for your specific situation.
Use of an AI-generated response is at your discretion. For critical decisions (legal, health-related, financial, or otherwise), please seek qualified professional advice rather than relying solely on AI-generated content.
We do not guarantee that any AI output is error-free or free from bias, or that it will meet your particular needs.
We may still use human review, intervention or oversight in conjunction with AI Systems, but we cannot guarantee continuous or exhaustive human verification of every AI outcome.
10.5 Your rights and control.

You may choose not to interact with AI Systems. If you prefer human-only support, please contact us using the channels described in Section 9.
You have the right to request access to the personal information processed by our AI Systems, ask for correction of inaccuracies, and in certain jurisdictions ask for deletion or restriction of processing, in accordance with applicable laws and Section 9.
If you believe an automated decision (if any) made via AI Systems has significantly affected you, you may request that a human review the decision or provide an explanation of how it was made.
10.6 Retention and security.
We retain data referenced by our AI Systems only as long as necessary for the purposes described (or as required by applicable law). We implement security measures (see Section 6) to protect the data processed by AI Systems, but no system can be entirely risk-free. Accordingly, by using our website or interacting with our AI Systems you acknowledge and accept this inherent risk.

10.7 Third-party AI Services.
If we use third-party AI service providers, those providers may collect, process or store information on our behalf. We recommend you review those third parties’ privacy policies. Your use of those services may be subject to additional terms and conditions.

10.8 Updates to this section.
We may modify this AI-specific section from time to time as technologies, laws or our business practices evolve. Changes will be posted in this Privacy Policy and will take effect immediately upon posting (see Section 9).
