Mt. Folly’s MF Brand has been registered since the 1980’s! Used to make sure someone doesn’t steal our cattle (yes, cattle rustling still happens), for humane reasons, we dropped hot branding and moved to freeze branding in these early years. This requires shaving hair off the area to brand, then dropping the temperature of the branding iron to well below 0 with liquid nitrogen. The resulting brand is white, which shows up well on black-hided cows.
