Holistic Management International collaboration for Mt. Folly Climate-Smart Farms

Free introductory course March 19th. Free access to HMI online courses. Mentorship Opportunity.

Mt. Folly Enterprises is excited to offer a Regen Ag Mentor Program at NO COST to producers across the Ohio River Valley.  Led by Wayne Knight of Holistic Management International, this one-of-a-kind group mentorship opportunity is designed to fit the needs and busy schedules of real-world farmers running businesses on the land.

You and your farm teams are invited to pick a Holistic Management International online course for this winter/spring, on the house! The list is below shows what’s available. Check in with Dylan (dylan@laurasmercantile.com if you’re not already in touch with us) to get the code for free access.

These online courses form the ‘gateway’ to our intensive mentorship with Wayne Knight and the HMI team which starts in May. The other entry points for the mentorship (which you are also welcome and encouraged to attend) are Wayne’s workshop intensive “Key Principle for Regenerative Agriculture Success” Thurs. Feb. 15 at OEFFA, and an in-person event Tues. March 19th near Shaker Village, KY. Each farm which wants to participate in the year-long mentorship must complete one online course at the front end. Our grant will pay for up to two courses per farm if you want to select more than one.

The Regen Intensive Mentorship consists of four in person modules covering holistic planning and decision making, stock density trialing, economic analysis, and business evaluation. The mentorship will be hosted on farms across our region, with self-paced remote consultations in between.  Don’t miss this opportunity to network with peer producers across our region and take your farm business to the next level.

* Attendance at the one-day session in March, OR attendance at a previous HMI course in person (including Wayne’s course at OEFFA in February) plus completion of one online course is a gateway into the full in-depth mentorship program. Wayne Knight-

Executive Director of Holistic Management International

With 27 years of ranching experience using Holistic Management, Wayne has had an identity crisis. When he joined the 11 000-acre family ranching business he called himself a cattle rancher. He changed to calling himself a grass farmer. Later still, he called himself a soil-microbe farmer, though he has always marketed beef. Privileged to work with his father, Tom Knight, who was an early adopter of Holistic Management under Allan Savory – Stan Parsons consulting, Wayne enthusiastically increased and intensified the practices HMI teaches. He became a Certified Educator in 2006 and was actively involved with the Southern African CE community organization, Community Dynamics. He has spoken at numerous conferences in Southern Africa, trained and mentored farmers, hosted open days on his property, and has written about his positive results using Holistic Management. Before joining the team at HMI Wayne served as a board member of the organization for 8 years. Through his enthusiasm for Holistic Management Wayne has traveled widely visiting farmers who practice high-density, long recovery grazing practices in Southern Africa, Australia, and the US. As a young graduate with a Science degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Natal, South Africa, he traveled across the US west working on ranches in Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, California, and New Mexico. When not involved in Holistic Management you will find him fishing, birding, hiking, or exploring wild spaces and places with his family. An enthusiastic traveler, hunter, and photographer, he loves discovering new places and making new friends.
