The Shagbark Black Bean Tortilla Chips are made with freshly ground black beans grown in Darke Coutny, Ohio, by Paul, Carol and Brent Schmitmeyer at Schmitmeyer Organic Farm and organic hybrid dent corn grown by Chris Clinehens and daughter Ginger at Clinehens Organic Farm in Shelby County, Ohio. Made in small batches every two weeks, the corn in our Black Bean chips is 100% masa. To make masa, whole corn is soaked overnight in a solution of water and rock-lime. Called “Nixtamal”, this method turns corn into a delicious superfood that unlocks corn’s niacin and other nutrients.
