A Letter from Laura: Homestead Alternatives CBD Third Party Testing and Farm Bill Update

From appearing on NBC Nightly News to hemp’s final legalization in the Farm Bill, it has become a week to remember.

 

After the NBC report, in which a commentator directed customers to “Ask the seller for a certificate from the lab which tested the CBD oil for purity,” we realized we needed to be more transparent to bolster our authenticity and prove our commitment to only offering you quality, effective products.

 

For that reason, we’ve published a new hemp certifications page which details our current testing processes, from Mt. Folly’s hemp fields to Homestead Alternatives hemp CBD products.

 

The NBC report also focused on claims made about CBD, and implied a lack scientific backing for the benefits of CBD. On our Hemp Science page, we publish peer-reviewed papers and credible news sources describing the benefits many are seeing after adding CBD to their lives.

A Big Win for Hemp

In breaking news, the Senate passed the 2018 Farm Bill. The House and Senate Conference report was released last night, and the bill should pass the House by the end of the week. The 812-page document, titled the “Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018” permanently removes all hemp, including CBDs, from the Controlled Substances Act.

In particular, hemp is permanently defined as all parts of the plant containing less than 0.3% THC, and while states and tribal governments may impose separate restrictions or requirements on hemp growth and sale, they may not interfere with the interstate commerce of hemp.
