Dear Friends,
A Big Win for Hemp
In breaking news, the Senate passed the 2018 Farm Bill. The House and Senate Conference report was released last night, and the bill should pass the House by the end of the week. The 812-page document, titled the “Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018” permanently removes all hemp, including CBDs, from the Controlled Substances Act.
In particular, hemp is permanently defined as all parts of the plant containing less than 0.3% THC, and while states and tribal governments may impose separate restrictions or requirements on hemp growth and sale, they may not interfere with the interstate commerce of hemp.
Kentucky, through the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, has one of the oldest and most innovative programs in the nation. We here at Laura’s Mercantile and Homestead Alternatives are proud to be Kentuckians! United we stand; divided we fall.
Thanks,
